SCAS Fellow Piotr Sztompka to Receive an Honorary Doctorate at the Jan Matejko Academy
of Fine Arts in Krakow

At a ceremony on 17 June 2015, Piotr Sztompka, who has been a Fellow in residence at SCAS during
the spring of 2015, will receive the title of Doctor Honoris Causa of at the Jan Matejko Academy of
Fine Arts in Krakow.

Piotr Sztompka is Professor of Theoretical Sociology at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow and a skilled
photographer. For the second half of the 2015 spring term, the exhibition "Venice in November", with photos
by Sztompka, has been on display at SCAS. Sztompka has been in residence at the Collegium on two previous
occasions; during the spring terms of 1990 and 1992.
